Windows 10: enable right click with two fingers tap on Synaptics touchpad

After upgrading to Windows 10, the touchpad of my Lenovo G50–45 has lost a feature in my opinion very useful: the right click with the two-fingers tap.

In the new settings interface of the Synaptics driver, there is no option to enable this feature. However, is still possible enable this from the system registry:

  1. Open Registry Editor (Windows + R, type regedit and hit Enter)
  2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\TouchPadPS2TM28xx
  3. Change the value of 2FingerTapAction to 2

That’s all!

  1. Following this exact same process, I find that I only have two files under

And neither are the 2FingerTapAction. Is it possible that I need to download different driver software in order to have the option for the 2FingerTapAction? I have a late 2017 Model HP Spectre x360 with the version mice driver. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

    1. I just created a DWORD (32 bit) value and named it 2FingerTapAction in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\TouchPadSMB2cTM3270-1 since my registry didnt have it already and set it to 2 as the fix suggested, restarted my computer and it worked.

  2. thanks, it’s 2018 and it still usefull. Windows 10 Pro 1709 on an X230 (non tablet) with driver. The option is available in the driver but it does not work neither changes the registry value. After changing value to 2 and restarting, two-fingers right-click is back !
